After a long search, finding an RV that checks every box can make it easy to picture family trips, stocked cupboards, favorite foods in the refrigerator, a pet bed by the fireplace, and the big game on TV from a new recliner. That excitement can also make defects easy to overlook, from a screw-damaged floor tile to problems that may turn the dream purchase into a costly ordeal.
A dealership may assure you that it completed a Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) and may send a technician to demonstrate the water system and air conditioner. However, if the RV is not connected to shore power or water, the technician cannot confirm that those systems work. Once you sign the financing documents and accept delivery, problems missed during the inspection become yours to resolve rather than the dealership’s.
Dealership warranty repairs are paid for and controlled by the manufacturer, often at a lower labor rate than the dealership charges cash-paying customers. Approval, parts delivery, and repair work can therefore take considerable time; I have heard accounts of repairs lasting three or four months or longer. During that time, the RV may remain locked behind the dealership’s gates while you continue making loan and insurance payments without being able to use it.
An independent third-party inspection gives you three options before accepting delivery: require the dealer to complete the repairs, negotiate a lower price and arrange the repairs yourself, or decline the RV and continue your search.
Dealership technicians may be trained to perform a PDI, but the assignment often goes to a newer technician with limited training and experience because experienced technicians are needed for revenue-producing repairs. When choosing a third-party inspector, evaluate the person’s qualifications: Is the inspector certified? Does the inspector have technician experience? Does the inspector belong to a professional organization that requires members to follow a code of ethics and established inspection standards?
You can trust Every Inch RV to provide a qualified, independent inspection. I have been an RVTAA Certified Technician since October 2021 and an NRVIA Certified Inspector since November 2021. I am also a member in good standing of the National RV Inspectors Association and the RV Technician Association of America, maintain at least 24 hours of continuing education each year, and carry insurance.

Don't let someone elses problems become yours. An independent 3rd party inspection is essential to identify current and potential problems before or after the sale.
We help new owners understand how each system on the RV works and provide maintenance tips to keep your RV operating like it is supposed to.
Like bloodwork for your RV, fluid analysis can be used to determine the health of your engine, transmission, hydraulics, and generator.
